Do you know This Master Key to NLP
If you want be effective at the Masters Level of NLP, there are two sides to NLP that need to be kept in balance.
Most NLP folks get out of balance by focusing too much on techniques. Learning techniques, stuff to do, so that their lives improve, their clients get well, they close more sales, or the women they want get into bed with them.
“What is nice about techniques, is that they are easy to sell, step by step – fairly easy to learn, and fun to play with. That’s why “technique based” Neurolinguistic Programming products and trainings are easy to sell.”
“Join me this weekend with Master Trainer Bobby Bumlicker and you will learn exactly HOW TO….” (Get it?)
Techniques are so easy to sell, and NLP Junkies want more, more and more of them, that often THE MASTER KEY TO NLP is overlooked.
Here is the problem, and your opportunity to move up to the MASTERS LEVEL in NLP and in LIFE. Techniques tend not to work all that well unless you are using The Master Key of USEFUL DISTINCTIONS.
“Odds are, you have heard the term, but don’t fully understand this amazing overlooked power in NLP.”
Many NLP trainers talk about Useful Distinctions – when they are doing nothing more than trying to sound intelligent and be clever.
The Goldmine!
“A distinction is useful IF and ONLY IF it contributes to the life of you or your client. If a distinction initiates an observable shift, course of action, or life changing connection that previously didn’t exist at that level – it is a USEFUL DISTINCTION.”
Otherwise, it’s TRIVIA. In the past 20 plus years of exploring NLP, I have met a lot of trivia masters, and very few folks who could generate useful distinctions in their lives and in the lives of those around them.
So now what? What do you do to get this?
If you want to start generating more Useful Distinctions – work more with those who actually can generate useful distinctions. This article, is a great example of what to notice.
Notice that in this article, we went on a journey, and in the process a new level of understanding and action was revealed. It will be almost impossible for the reader (and the writer) to ignore the power of Useful Distinctions – and be the typical NLP Junkie – who needs more, more, more techniques to do – and who misses the world of Useful Distinctions that they live in.
Mr Twenty Twenty
Hello there, I’m a self confessed Hypnosisfanatic! Noticed your web page on the search engines. I’m still not convinced that anything other than hypnotherapy has the greatest effect on a person’s ability to change their mental process, but good site anyway. Thank you Keep up the good work.
When I got into NLP 10 years ago, that word changed my life. Distinction. It was my word of the year in 2000.
Adding the word “useful” to it, though, qualifies it more thoroughly.
The more you fragment something, the more energy is required to integrate the pieces.
Not efficient and certainly not elegant (if you’ve ever seen a sculpture patched up with crazy glue).
Only break it down as much as needed. Otherwise you might kill it.
Cheers!
