There are two secrets to REALLY GETTING what Tim shares in the book:
SECRET #1: The closer your way of thinking is to his (thinking defined as “how you generate thoughts) – the easier and more completely you will be able to integrate his ideas and thoughts into your life.

There are two secrets to REALLY GETTING what Tim shares in the book:

SECRET #1: The closer your way of thinking is to his (thinking defined as “how you generate thoughts) – the easier and more completely you will be able to integrate his ideas and thoughts into your life.

You need BOTH how he thinks and WHAT he thinks. HOW He thinks, generates WHAT he thinks. What’s cool, once you are aware of precisely HOW he thinks, YOU can develop THAT WAY OF THINKING.

In the Tim Ferriss mind hack videos, you’ll get an expert modeler’s view into the mind of the man who generated the Four Hour Work Week.

Secret #2. To “get Tim Ferriss” you have to let HOW HE PERCEIVES the world RUB off on you.

This is related to “how he thinks”. You’ll see the difference when you get to the video on Motivation and The Timothy Ferris Mind Hack Summary. Those will be in my next post. I’ll be writing more about that in the future, but for now, enjoy the Tim Ferris Mind Hack Videos.

Enjoy, vote, leave comments, and if you want “the notes”, AND notifications of more Mind Hacks – register for our newsletter here AND
GO GET these 3 hours of Totally Candid Crash Course Recordings. My gift. This is what happens to your limitations when you hack the mind of Tim Ferriss. Whooo yah!

1. Become GREAT at eliciting states. Don’t just hope and wait for the desired state to show up. Become great at eliciting states by asking questions for example. “What do you love most about dancing?” Telling stories can be great for eliciting states too. Just ask anyone who comes to our workshops how fun and valuable storytelling can be.

2. Monkey Around! Get great at instantly becoming the state you want to elicit and anchor. It’s tough to elicit a state you can’t get into. Years ago when teaching Milton Erickson’s Handshake Induction I made sure course participants understood, you can’t put someone into deep fast trance, unless you can get there yourself. Make sure if you want to elicit and then anchor excitement for example, that you are also entering into the “excitement” state yourself.

3. Just do it. Too many NLP enthusiasts wait too long to anchor. If you see them heading into the state you want them in, set your anchor. If you wait to long you will probably anchor them LEAVING that state. That makes your anchor pretty much useless, and keeps you confused. Remember, Just do it.

4. Forget anchoring. Just practice and play with eliciting states in people for the next 14 days. Too many people skip this vital phase, and get caught up on anchoring and testing their anchor, because anchoring is the “sexy” part of the skill.

5. Learn how to generate “the good stuff” in you first. Become the kind of person who LIVES in the states you want in others. Become that curious, excited, strong, motivated man. Then when you want to elicit these states in others and install anchors, you will be able to do so easily. It’s funny watching the couch potato try to install excitement and motivation in others.

6. Keep it simple. All you have to to is Elicit, Notice, Anchor. Too many people complicate it up. Keep it simple Buckwheat.

7. Keep learning. Don’t EVER assume you have mastered your skills. I constantly play with new ways of doing things, and I constantly expose myself… to other trainers who are masters of their trades so I can learn from them. In other words, get to seminars, buy products, and play like a mad man.

Thanks for Playing!

Here are three things you can to to “get over” the ego.

1. At the end of the day, take time to quietly reflect on your thoughts. Notice how much “sense of self” was involved in both thinking and in activities.

2. Do this little exercise inside your mind. Make a picture of your car. Put you in it. Take you out of it. Make a picture of your kitchen. Put you in it. Take you out it. Make a picture of your oven. Put you in it. Take you out of it. - Get creative with this one.

3. Notice if you have a preference when you spontaneously make images during the day – are you in your images or not? Notice how this changes over time.

These tiny little exercises loosen up how you represent “you” inside your mind. There are plenty more of these that you’ll find in our recordings, or that we will spontaneously develop during a training or a coaching – consulting call.

Imagine how much your friends, family and even your pet iguana would rejoice if you would…

“Do THEY – lighten up when you walk into the room?”

Here is the good news, there is nothing you can do. There is NOTHING you NEED to do. (Except for just one tiny thing… )

There is an art to showing up more in life, and here is the key. Work with someone who will not reinforce you checking out. Work with someone who has the skills to invite you to check back in and stay checked in to what is REAL longer. Trips inside your mind are dangerous, and they cost you big time. It’s time to put an end to how often you do that.

Here’s the good news. It just might shake you up, so hold on.
“Nothing is your fault, everything the fault of incomplete faulty programming. (Just try this on, and also notice why you probably resist this thought, even though it is possibly the most liberating thought you have ever heard.)”
Because when it all comes down to it, programming it began as a child. The mind has been getting programmed, and the body conditioned, ever since you took your first breath. Maybe earlier. All without permission, consent, resistance.
Those only came up later, after sufficient programming and conditioning about “permission, consent and resistance”.
“So quit beating yourself up over stuff your programming has done.”

You’ll know if the programming is being upgraded, if you start beating yourself up less, and simply being yourself more.

You’ll know if the programming is being upgraded, if your life simply grows and evolves in a more positive, able and giving direction.

I got this in the email 2 weeks ago. You are gonna be surprised at how it all worked out.
“Please help me, before I got promoted to management, I imagined being a manage a manager would solve all my problems at work. I imagined that I could get the employees to obey orders like robots. Now I am trying to use anchoring, state elicitation, rapport and my other skills to get them to form an image of me being a good leader in their minds. I am finding all my new responsibilities very stressful and I don’t know what to do.”
Here’s the problem. Jimmy got his promotion, because he used his “NLP SKILLS” to make it impossible for the boss to resist giving him the promotion. In other words, Jimmy engineered his way into a job that he can’t handle, and doesn’t deserve.

He should have spent his time using some gold old fashioned NLP to CHANGE HIS LIFE, instead of using it to manipulate others.

Jimmy, here’s the deal. Now you can choose to develop the strategies – the inner game - you need to succeed. Now you can choose to develop the communication skills you need to be a good boss, maybe even the best boss ever. Now you can choose to PRODUCE CHANGE within yourself, instead of MODIFYING OTHER PEOPLES THINKING, to get your own way.

Note: I actually got in Jimmy’s face last Wednesday, on his first coaching call. He needed that, he wanted that. He knew, that it was time for him to use HIS NLP to grow, so he could really give to the company, and give to the people in his life, instead of tricking them so he could take.

Note: Jimmy just had his second coaching call with me today. He’s put up over $2,000 of NLP crap on Ebay, to pay for a 10 week intense coaching training with me. Why? Because at some point, we all get to the point where growing and growing up makes sense.

“Jimmy came to me he says because he needed coaching and mentoring that would challenge him, and help him get results. That’s the same reasons why I went to the elders and the mentors I trained with, and it makes all the differrence.”

So why do people hate NLP and NLPERS? Could it be that most of the attention NLP gets now days is from folks who want to use it like Jimmy did?

Think about it.

Look, 2010 is right around the corner. What are you going to do differently?

It’s time!

to help other people get what they wanted, by helping them to take
control of their own minds and their own lives.
That was 17 years ago. The power of commitment, followed by action

I was sitting there, I watched her move from across the room, and I knew that I wanted to talk with her. She looked interesting, energetic, alive.
So I walked past her, up to the counter, to get another cup of coffee, I glanced over at her, relaxed, focused my gaze on her, and immediately I noticed her neclace.
“Hi, I’ve been admiring your necklace from across the room, did you make it?”
She looked at me, saw that I was sincere, and then we started talking.
In the next 25 minutes, I learned that she bought it on a trip to Virginia Beach, and that she goes there 2 times a year. Once with her friends, once with her family.

In the next 25 minutes, I learned that she bought it on a trip to Virginia Beach, and that she goes there 2 times a year. Once with her friends, once with her family.

We talked until she had to get back to work, she would have given me her number if I had asked, she hinted several times, and she said she hoped that we would bump into each other again. We did, I introduced her to Carol, and she became a friend of ours.

“All of the good ones are taken.”

So why did she open up like that? I didn’t “NLP” or “seduce” her.

How to easily and naturally get rapport.

“When you meet someone, keep in mind that you meet their heart, their body, their mind.”

I tied all three of those together. I gave her a genuine compliment, asked a question I wanted the answer to, and centered it all around something SPECIFIC about her. This something specific could be about a thing she has or activity she does.

Compliment = heart.

Question = mind.

Necklace = body.

You can use this “method” to meet just about anyone, and if you are genuine with it, you can get invited deep into their world.

Have fun,
